At University Vision Centre, we can catch eye diseases at their earliest stages — and manage them before they impact your sight — in part because we use such high-tech diagnostics. Our selection of advanced imaging technology helps us see the smallest changes in your eyes and identify a wide variety of conditions, even if you aren’t experiencing symptoms yet. Early diagnosis is the key to better outcomes for patients!

Dry Eye Diagnosis & Management
We’re proud to have a workstation dedicated to treating dry eye! We’ll examine your meibomian glands, which produce oil that’s crucial to tear makeup, using specialized tech: this helps us identify the source of your unique dry eye and determine the best course of treatment for you. All of our treatment plans are personalized, whether our doctors recommend the Lumenis® Optima IPL in-office treatment or drops and supplements that can make a significant difference in keeping your tears healthy.
Diabetic Retinopathy Diagnosis & Management
Diabetes affects your whole body and can have an outsized impact on your eyes. We give special attention to our diabetic patients with our Optos retinal imaging, which gives us insight into very minor changes occurring at the back of your eyes. When it comes to management of diabetic retinopathy, early awareness is key — we have treatment options to safeguard your sight before your retina is at risk for irreversible damage. And for more severe cases, we can connect you with esteemed surgeons as necessary.
Glaucoma Diagnosis & Management
Glaucoma doesn’t have noticeable symptoms until damage is done, but our full-scope screenings let us check for any fluctuations in intraocular pressure (IOP) or eye health. Glaucoma is the buildup of excess IOP, which can put dangerous pressure on the sensitive optic nerve. Should we find anything concerning, we’ll offer management options that relieve your IOP before it threatens your vision. And if you need surgery, we’ll recommend top surgeons in the area and manage the disease together.
Macular Degeneration Diagnosis & Management
Macular degeneration occurs over many years as your eye’s macula — the center of your retina, which is responsible for detailed, color, and central vision — begins to break down due to natural aging processes. Luckily, regular eye exams using specialized imaging technology let us detect its signs at the earliest stages, so we can customize a management plan for you to protect your inner eye. In some cases, specialized treatments from specialists can help, and we’re happy to co-manage your care.
Cataract Surgery Diagnosis & Management
Cataracts cloud your eye’s lens, and typically develop with natural aging. While their onset may be slow, the only permanent way to restore your vision is through cataract surgery. We diagnose cataracts during our comprehensive eye exams and will help you make the most of your vision until you’re ready for surgery. Then, we’ll connect you with top professionals in El Paso to ensure that you receive world-class cataract surgery to help you see clearly — and potentially even improve your vision.

It doesn’t matter if you need care in English or Spanish, as either way, we’ll make sure to explain what’s going on with your eyes in easy to understand terms.

Myopia Management in El Paso
World-class care includes protecting your little one’s eyes with myopia management. Glasses correct nearsightedness, but can’t slow its progression, meaning myopia will still become more severe over time — and increase the risk of eye disease. Options like Ortho-K lenses slow myopia’s progression and correct vision now: this reduces eyewear reliance while preventing potential complications that come with stronger prescriptions. We’ll help your children focus on what’s important during their education and childhood!
