Dry Eye Treatment in El Paso, TX

What is Dry Eye Disease?

Dry eye disease, also known as dry eye syndrome, is an uncomfortable but common eye condition. Your eyes either don’t produce enough tears, or your tears are poor quality and evaporate too fast, to hydrate your eyes: this happens when your tears don’t have enough mucus, water, or oil. Causes include allergies, meibomian gland dysfunction, overuse of digital screens, and dry, hot weather.

Common symptoms of dry eye disease can include:

  • Sore, heavy, or fatigued eyes
  • Itchy, red, or watery eyes
  • Blurred vision
  • Light sensitivity

How Do We Diagnose Dry Eye Disease?

Our diagnostic process starts with an assessment and focuses on getting to the root of what is causing your dry eye. We use specialized diagnostic technology examine your meibomian glands, which are oil-producing glands on your eyelids that are prone to infection or clogging; the quality of your tears, including how long they stay on your eye; and other factors to find the source of your dry eye.

What Does Our Dry Eye Treatment Include?

Our treatment of dry eye includes trusted solutions like prescription eye drops and supplements to improve eye health and function, as well as advanced treatments such as the Lumenis Optima, a 15-minute treatment that warms blockages in your meibomian glands with gentle light pulses. Depending on your condition, your doctor may recommend multiple solutions that work best together.

“Great staff, techs and doctor. The doctor did a great job explaining things to me, and pointed out a couple of things they are going to watch, but said a yearly exam would be fine to keep an ‘eye’ (sorry) on the different things. I am freaky about anything to do with my eyes, but they totally put me at ease about the exam, and the ‘issues’ they are watching. They have all the state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, too. I highly recommend them.”

“This was my first tine there, the staff and my doctor was amazing. The front desk staff was so nice and professional, along with the technicians being knowledgeable of every test given to me, and taking the time to explain each eye test to me. Dr. Garner is a great doctor, and literally explained every detail of my results, and answered all of my questions without talking over my head. Top notch care and treatment, would definitely recommend this place for others!”
